Engenion Wins at the Globee Awards

“Our budget planning largely relies on estimates and manual adjustments,” says a development engineer from the automotive industry, describing a widespread issue in the sector. For years, automotive manufacturers have struggled with managing their large R&D budgets. Despite all efforts, inefficiencies and excessive expenses remain a recurring problem.

This is where Engenion comes into play. The innovative Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool was developed to eliminate guesswork in budgeting. At the Globee Awards for Technology, GFT and Engenion received three awards: Most Innovative Company of the Year – Cloud/SaaS, in the Project and Portfolio Management category, and for the Most Innovative IT Software. Engenion stands out with its unique features:

• Object-Activity-Value (OAV): Unifies work activities, development objects, and resource expenditures, providing real-time insights into budget and performance.
• Metadata Tagging: Tags all system entries, enabling accurate future project cost forecasts based on historical data.
• AI Integration: Includes a personal assistant for easy data queries and a report assistant for creating reports via voice command.

Impressive Cost Savings

Jens-Thorsten Rauer, Managing Director of GFT and responsible for the global product business, states, “Engenion transforms R&D budgeting from guesswork into precision. With our Object-Activity-Value logic, we provide real-time insights that lead to significant cost savings in development expenses. Engenion sets a new standard for transparency and efficiency in complex development projects.”

Engenion has over 20,000 users and manages several billion euros in development budgets. It has also led to substantial cost reductions, with project development budgets cut by around 5 percent. Unlike the traditional Work Breakdown Structure of many PPM tools, Engenion’s innovative Object-Activity-Value (OAV) approach offers a unified logic for engineers and executives. This enhances cost transparency, data consistency, and decision-making. Compared to a traditional project structure of conventional PPM solutions, the OAV structure allows for more precise allocation of products and services to individual projects. It ensures continuous transparency regarding project affiliation, budget responsibility, and development costs. Standard templates provide a consistent project structure and integrate OAV structures during the planning phase, ensuring adherence to organizational standards and enabling efficient project management.

The latest version of Engenion, released on July 1, introduces numerous new features and enhancements. Highlights include an overhauled user interface and modernized design, offering an intuitive and visually appealing user experience. Additionally, new portfolio staffing features allow for project prioritization based on strategic goals. Enhanced filtering options, capacity and hour quota comparisons, and the consideration of personnel costs enable proactive management of human resources.

In June, Engenion was awarded “Best New Product” and “Most Innovative Solution” at the Best in SaaS Awards, and GFT was named “Best Company” for its outstanding work in task management software.

Engenion is part of the GFT AI.DA Marketplace, a platform that combines predictive and generative AI technologies with data analytics. The GFT AI.DA Marketplace supports the development and deployment of AI applications by providing a comprehensive collection of use cases, methods, reference architectures, and pre-configured solutions, significantly accelerating digital transformation.

Recognition of Engenion at the Globee Awards underscores its status as a leading solution in the PPM market.

In addition to comprehensive consulting services, GFT also offers software products in compliance and project portfolio management, which are used by customers in over 60 countries.
